What Is Yoga Therapy ?
Yoga therapy is multidimensional healing, tailored to your personal health needs and health challenges. The underlying premise of yoga therapy is that, no matter the symptoms, illness begins at subtle levels in the body and the mind, becoming gradually more apparent until it manifests as disease. Unlike a group class, yoga therapy sessions are one-to-one, designed to address specific or persistent health issues that cannot be addressed in a group setting. Yoga therapy is particularly useful for many chronic conditions that persist despite conventional medical treatment. Deeply preventative and restorative in nature, yoga therapy builds strength, improves alignment, and creates balance in the body and mind.
Health and Harmony at Every Level
Yoga therapy works directly with the structural levels of the body (joints, muscles, tissues, bodily systems, and breath) as well as the functional levels (mind, body, emotions, energy and thoughts) to correct and/or manage the discomforts and imbalances associated with disease. Our goal is to release the energetic blocks that create illness and restore the flow of energy (prana) to its natural, harmonious state.
Techniques Employed to Achieve These Goals Include:
- Yoga postures (asanas)
- Breath awareness and regulated breathing exercises that soothe regulatory and circulatory systems
- Meditation and concentration practices that help clear emotion blocks and open energetic pathways
- Creative Visualization and Affirmations
- Dietary and Lifestyle Modifications as necessary
Research and clinical studies have proven that the vast majority of modern diseases are brought on or worsened by stress. Do any of the following apply to you?

- I wake up tired and groggy.
- My joints feel painful and stiff.

Insurance coverage varies greatly from company to company. As more individuals begin to seek out complementary and alternative modalities, some insurance companies are beginning to reimburse for preventative education and therapies such as these. While we cannot bill your insurance company directly for our services, we will provide you with the necessary receipts you need to document the care you have received. We advise you to contact your insurance company and/or benefits office to inquire about flexible spending accounts and/or coverage related to complementary and alternative health.
